As the Senior Manager – Electrical Systems, you will lead one or more teams responsible for the design, analysis, and assurance of electrical systems for the SMR power station. This includes system architecture, sub-system and component design, equipment specification and selection, and ensuring safe and reliable electrical plant performance. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams and apply structured systems engineering approaches to deliver integrated solutions.

You will:

  • Lead the development and delivery of electrical system designs across the SMR programme.
  • Manage electrical systems data and analysis teams to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Ensure standardisation of design principles, architecture, and equipment across the power station.
  • Provide technical governance and oversight of external design packages and supply chain partners.
  • Define and apply relevant codes, standards, and legislation.

Key selection criteria for this role are:

Comprehensive Electrical Systems Design Proficiency
Significant experience in the full lifecycle of electrical system design, including specification, assessment, verification, testing, installation, commissioning, and maintenance. A strong understanding of fault resilience principles (e.g. redundancy and diversity) is essential.

Adherence to Industry Standards
Deep knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations that drive good electrical system design.

Application of Advanced System Methodologies
Experience applying systems engineering methodologies, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), to electrical systems.

Effective Stakeholder Communication
Proven ability to communicate technical information clearly and compellingly to internal and external stakeholders.

Technical Oversight Proficiency
Demonstrated leadership in electrical engineering, with the ability to provide technical oversight and act as an intelligent customer for external design packages.
