We are now recruiting for the exciting role of The Senior Engineer – Fuel Assembly & Control Rod.
The Senior Engineer – Fuel Assembly & Control Rod will work within the Core Components team to mature the technical solution and delivery programme for the components scope and apply the necessary governance to all activities.
Key role criteria:
- Core Component specific knowledge and experience
The candidate shall have demonstrable component design experience of Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) core components, specifically focused on Fuel Assemblies and Control Rod Assemblies. Experience with other nuclear reactor core components (e.g. Neutron Source Assemblies and Core Monitoring components).
- Product lifecycle and new product introduction
The candidate shall have relevant demonstrable experience throughout all key stages of the product lifecycle, covering:
- Concept design
- Detailed design
- Product verification
- Manufacture & build
- Commissioning and in-service
- Decommissioning
The candidate shall have relevant demonstrable experience of new process introduction, with specific experience relevant to the scope of this role.
- Integrated cross-functional programme delivery in complex programmes
The candidate shall be required to develop, manage and lead complex integrated programmes for the defined scope of the role. This will include interacting with other teams delivering dependent activities to provide the role as customer and ensure progress is monitored and aligned with the integrated programme.
- Lead and manage small engineering team
The candidate shall be required to lead a small team of direct reports, foster collaboration and innovation within that team, and maintain a positive inclusive team culture. This will include providing direction and ensuring that appropriate governance and assurance is applied in line with the business processes. The candidate shall be required to support the expected growth of the wider Nuclear Equipment team during future phases.
- Ability to communicate and build relationships
The role requires the candidate to communicate and build relationships with a large variety of stakeholders across the business, covering functions such as component design, system design, analysis, verification, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial, programme management and business development.
The candidate will be a Chartered Engineer or demonstrate actively working towards achieving this, and also hold a degree level qualification in a relevant technical topic area.
