We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Research and Technology Engineer, to be involved in Rolls Royce SMR's engagement with UK academia and research organisations, ensuring alignment between research effort and company's strategic objectives in developing small modular reactor technology.

Role Purpose 

This role involves developing research strategies, managing relationships with academic institutions, representing the company at academic engagements, and driving the long-term partnerships focused on develop innovation across our key technology themes.

Key focus for the role

  • Development and implementation of a comprehensive academic engagement strategy aligned with the company’s technology themes.
  • Establish collaborative partnerships with UK universities, resulting in tangible research outcomes such as publications, prototypes, or new methodologies.
  • Successful identification and prioritisation of impactful academic research through effective horizon scanning.
  • Successful management of a small number of technology projects.
  • Increased visibility of the company within academic and research communities through regular engagement.
  • Progress towards forming a long-term strategic partnership with multiple universities across key technology themes.

Training & Qualifications that would support your development

Essential:

  • Degree in engineering, a natural science, or a related technical discipline.

Desirable:

  • MSc/PhD in a relevant field, preferably with research experience.
  • Familiarity with intellectual property and commercialisation practices

Pay and benefits

•                     Salary - £40,000 - £52,500

•                     A performance related bonus of up to 12.5%,

•                     An attractive pension scheme with 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.

•                     You will also receive a flexible benefits allowance of £2,200, enabling you to create a bespoke package to suit your needs.

•                     28 days annual leave (plus bank holiday) with ability to buy additional days.

•                     BUPA personal health cover

•                     £250 one-off cash allowance on joining to spend on your home-office set-up
